In the mood for summer

With the onset of June, we believe it’s time to fully embrace summer feelings - regardless of what the weather is doing - and go all out to make the most of our gardens and homes over the coming weeks...

Summer essentials for us at Henderson’s revolve around gardening, eating, drinking and entertaining, and relaxing. Giving ourselves time to rest and relax is vital for better mental health, reduced stress and improved mood, as well as increased concentration and memory. And when you factor in a healthy dose of time outdoors, you get all the benefits nature has to offer too.

Nature lovers

Make your garden bird-friendly by adding an eye-catching birdhouse. By choosing one that looks good, you create a beautiful focal point as well as giving feathered friends somewhere to rest. Our Dovecote-style birdhouses are made from reclaimed timber in a gorgeous rustic white-washed style. Hand-crafted, these lovely pieces have a flat back to secure easily to a wall.

Our Hanging Bempton Bird Table is handmade using decorative green-painted woodwork, with a verdigris copper roof and a natural rope for hanging. It also has a clever detachable side panel and tray, which lifts out for easy cleaning. Our pretty Hanging Bird Feeder is made from metal with a grey wash finish and two decorative little birds perched beneath the roof, while our Plume Birdbath Feeder is one of our favourites with its aged look and shallow goblet-shaped dish, birds can bathe, drink or feed in style.

Make it unique

Pots and planters are particularly useful if you don’t have a lot of planting space. Opt for something big and bold, such as our Dolly Tub Planter - a pair work particularly well either side of a gate or door - or draw attention with something cute and irresistible such as our Luis Dachshund Planter. 

Adding one or two key pieces is often enough to personalise a garden, deck or patio, creating a space you want to spend time in. Sensational sculpture

Our Cast Iron Piglets are a wonderful quirky addition to any outdoor space and guaranteed to add personality. Peeking out from flowerbeds or perched by the back door, these cast-iron cuties will gently develop their own unique patina over time, adding even more character.
