Gifts by Recipient – making it a little easier to choose a present that will be treasured

Let’s face it, gift buying can be tricky. We’ve all been there - stressed to the max about perfect presents and stocking fillers, or simply not knowing where to start.

From thinking of teacher gifts to something for family and friends, it can be easy to forget Christmas shopping should be fun. It’s not about how much you spend, it’s all about showing someone you care, that you have put some thought into a special present for them. With that in mind, we’ve put together a gift guide to help with Christmas prep. So, step away from the boxed toiletries, cosy up with a cup of tea, and browse our carefully curated Gifts by Recipient suggestions for unique pieces that make thoughtful gifts.

Being a host or hostess is hard work and it’s a lovely gesture to give a little gift that simply says, ‘Thank you for all the effort’. Candlesticks and candleholders work well here. You can never have enough of our Mini Ribbed Tealight Holders, which come in fabulous shades of red, gold, green and turquoise. Mix or match colours and pop a tealight in before wrapping. Our glass Vega Candlestick holders look far more expensive than they are and you can team them with our hand-poured Rustic Dining Candles in lovely muted shades or our gorgeous Coloured Dining Candles.

Scented candles and soaps make lovely indulgent gifts – something you rarely buy for yourself. There are several new fragrances in our Walled Garden Tinned Candles collection -  Stem Ginger evokes wonderful winter vibes. Our beautifully presented Gift Box Of Three Soaps is always a winner - honey, fig and opium scents are particularly popular in winter.

Plants, both real and faux botanicals, make fantastic gift ideas. Our Melun Plant Pot with its beautiful glazed botanical design, is available in 3 sizes and can be used as a candle holder, potted up with sweetly scented hyacinth or a faux Orchid Plant.

For a foodie, you can never go wrong with a gift for the pantry and a jar of our local honey is a delicious surprise. Available in-store only, but well worth popping in for if you are local.

A gift for the gardener in your life does not have to be another plant. We encourage you to get creative, there are so many options from the functional to the thoughtfully designed decorative. For example, pair an Outdoor Thermometer with a wooden Vegetable Brush and retro-style Garden String for someone who loves growing veggies.

For flower growers, we have a gorgeous collection of garden pots and planters. Our Trio Of Aged Terracotta Pots in a wire basket are ideal for succulents and herbs, while the trough-shaped Regency Planter is perfect for those who love seasonal colour.

Our quirky Cast Iron Piglet brings bundles of personality to a garden or home, while our Caged Hanging Planter has a striking industrial style - perfect for urban spaces.

Gardeners love functional gifts - bootroom essentials, including our quirky Beetle Boot Jack and Dachshund Boot Scraper, are thoughtful as well as practical. Garden bird enthusiasts will love our Natural Nest Pocket, made from natural reeds and grasses for small birds to take shelter in. The gorgeous Tahera Bird Nester is handmade using recycled sari fabrics and is crafted around a sturdy inner frame. Overseeing everything is our Verdi Owl Ornament, a gorgeous little ornament with a verdigris finish that will develop its own patina outside over time.

Let your imagination take flight when choosing a gorgeous gift for someone who loves their home and garden. From vintage-style Etched Prosecco Glasses, which double up as dessert glasses, to vases and decorative pieces that add warmth and personality to a space.

Pairing vases with faux blooms or a hurricane lamp with a Macon Pillar Candle already in place will highlight the thought you’ve put in. Our Fluted Glass Tealight Shade fits into any empty long-necked bottle to create a unique candleholder and looks fantastic when teamed with our Coloured Tealights.

Our Natural Twig Heart Wreath evokes hygge home vibes and can be embellished with foraged finds or foliage - eucalyptus or ivy work well. The beauty of our Etched Glass Hurricane is in its simplicity - perfect for any interior design style. Our pretty and practical Glass Candlestick Vase can hold a tealight, dinner candle or can be filled with water for stems - check it out here to see how.

We all know a luxe lover - or you might be one yourself (in which case, direct anyone you think may buy you a gift here, and be assured of getting something you love)! Swoon-worthy gifts, thoughtful ideas, and something a little out of the ordinary, we have a few suggestions to turn you into the best gift giver ever.

From sumptuous and warm sheepskins to fabulous faux bouquets that will last and last, to tactile sculptures and striking candleholders, we have plenty to turn heads. Our wonderful cement sculptures Valencia and Victoria regularly sell out, while our sleek Whippet Statue is nothing short of perfect for sighthound lovers.

Our pretty glass Room Diffuser resembles an old apothecary bottle and can be refilled, while the gilded surfaces of the Kalan Side Table make it a glamorous antique gold statement piece. The Glass Candle House is a beautiful house-shaped cloche, which is perfect for displaying foraged finds, small plants, fairy lights and candles. Perfect for mantles, side tables or celebration tablescapes.

For anyone local enough to be able to visit us in-store, we will be part of a late-night shopping evening in Melrose on the 7th of December. And as a reminder for online shoppers, our final posting date is Wednesday 13th December and for store collections it is Saturday 23rd December.
