Willow Hedgehog House

Give visiting hedgehogs a safe, sheltered place to nest and hibernate with this traditional woven hedgehog house. Designed to imitate the type of natural shelter they might find beneath logs and leaves, it provides a cosy retreat in gardens where suitable nesting spots can be harder to find.

Ideally position your hedgehog house by early autumn, giving local hedgehogs plenty of time to discover it before hibernation. Choose a quiet, sheltered and relatively dry corner of the garden, preferably with the entrance facing away from north and north-east winds.

Add a handful of dry leaves inside, then cover the house with leaves, twigs and other natural garden material, keeping the entrance clear. Once in position, leave it as undisturbed as possible and let your garden visitors do the rest.
