Autumn Vibes

Embrace the new season with simple interior updates to cosy up homes

There is something wonderful about the onset of autumn - a time of transition and embracing a new season. The coming weeks are full of glorious colour as leaves turn and summer blooms make way for autumn tones, all of which make it the perfect time to breathe new life into your home using colour, scent and texture to revitalise, recharge and refresh your living space.

Creating a home where you can rest and relax does not - thankfully - have to involve major renovations. A few simple updates, to add warmth, comfort and personality, help create a space that sparks joy and feels truly ‘yours’.

Start with colour

Colour is a great starting point - this season calls for warmer tones and deeper shades to add warmth. Popular autumn colours include reds, deeper yellows, burnt orange and rich browns, and we think dark green and inky blue also work brilliantly.

Use faux botanicals for one of the simplest colour updates - the right combination of flowers and foliage transforms the mood and atmosphere of any room. Forget the artificial flowers of old, our stylish stems are incredibly realistic, and a quick and easy way to add colour, texture and interest.

Faux foliage artistry

Mix and match stems, adding foliage, wispy grasses or twiggy branches to fill out displays. Our Autumn Hedgerow Berry stems offer a beautiful russet red, while the plum tones of Eucalyptus Ruby are striking on their own, but also work well with the pink hues and graceful stems of Veronica, and Olive Hydrangea, a faux botanical that adds shape and volume to any arrangement.

Other easy autumn updates include the striking Damson Hydrangea, which looks wonderful on its own or teamed with Boxwood. Eucalyptus in any colour always catches the eye. Our Peony Plum Stem adds a sense of drama, while Hydrangea Chloris has silvery notes that work with any colour combination. The pink tones of Heirloom Thistle bring a wonderful sense of warmth, while the stem itself looks striking teamed with foliage such as our Woodland Fern fronds to create a foraged and wild look.

Fabulous faux

Foliage is transformative in fresh flower arrangements and equally so in faux flower bouquets, which have the added advantage of never fading or drooping. Our Moss Branch adds textural variety, which is just as important as colour when creating a warm atmosphere. Creamy-hued Catkin is another autumn winner, full of gentle colour and texture; you only need a few for a striking display. We also think the delicate olive toned Meadow Buck Grass is going to be a firm autumn favourite.

Talking texture

Accessorise your space with vases in a natural colour that also have a tactile finish for added interest. The Massin Vase has a unique patina that resembles wood, but is made from concrete; it works beautifully with hydrangea or foliage. Try stems of Eucalyptus Plum, Eucalyptus Ruby and a single stem of Peony Rouge

The grainy finish of the rustic Giulio Vase has a gorgeous earthy colour and texture - team with wilder stems, such as Meadow Buck Grass or Purple Melaleuca for a whimsical display, while three hydrangea stems look stunning together.

Our light-grey, Nuovo Vase is a lovely contrast for darker blooms and stems; pair with faux wild berries – a mass of Wild Berry Stems looks amazing - while Peony Plum looks fantastic too. Full of rustic charm, the ceramic Totana Vase makes a lovely centrepiece; foliage, such as the Asplenium Spray, looks fabulous grouped together, while Wax Berry and Autumn Hedgerow Berry stems work well with the soft brown tones.

The Panobo Vase has a rustic look and is ideal for taller, architectural, stems such as our new Moss Branch and Heirloom Thistle; this vase also looks stunning filled with blousy Peony Rouge or clouds of Eucalyptus Plum.

Sumptuous sheepskin

Visual texture is one thing, but this is the season to introduce warm materials you can cosy up with too, such as our beautiful Black Welsh Mountain Sheepskins, which are locally sourced in the Scottish Borders. Hard-wearing, sustainable, insulating, and easy to clean, you can use this super-soft sheepskin anywhere for instant warmth and comfort.

Our sumptuous new Kaber Sheepskin Cushion not only looks great, but will up the cosy factor even more.

Simply scent-sational

Scent has the potential to boost our mood and is often associated with happy memories, so don’t overlook the impact home fragrance has. Scented candles and diffusers both add beautiful seasonal fragrance. Our collection of Walled Garden Tinned Candles, which are made in the UK from natural wax, are a lovely addition - we think new fragrance Stem Ginger is going to be particularly popular, while Orchard is already a firm favourite for autumn.

Our Room Diffusers also bring a lovely breath of autumn fragrance to homes. Each diffuser has a pretty glass apothecary bottle and natural rattan reeds to fill a room with warming scent for up to 10 weeks. Choose from Fig, Moroccan Rose, Seashore, and Rosemary & Eucalyptus, which are all particularly popular at this time of year.

Appealing to all the senses with colourful, tactile, beautifully scented additions to your home helps create a space perfectly tailored for you – a space to rest, relax and recharge in style and comfort.
