How to pull together fabulous, fuss-free, festive table and room decor
Whether you love the look of rustic style, sophisticated elegance or an eclectic mix, the choice is yours - there is no right or wrong way to decorate a festive table and home, it is the personal touch that counts. Use what you love to create a wonderful space that is unique to you.
Go for a welcoming atmosphere with twinkling lights and the warming glow from candles, add in seasonal berries and foliage - mix foraged finds in with textured faux stems - add Scented Candles and Pot Pourri to appeal to all the senses.
Choose a colour theme and run that through items on your table - using same coloured candles is a simple way to establish a pulled-together look without much effort, or, go for an eclectic mix of bold hues. Adding coloured ribbon around napkins will add a simple elegance to white tablecloths and if you make your own Christmas crackers, follow the colour theme through with fabric, paper and decorative ribbon ties.
Tantalising tablescapes
Varying the height of pieces on the table - tall dining candles and small, grouped pine cones, or mini tree decorations - draws the eye to different levels and adds interest. Start in the middle of the table and work your way outwards. A candelabra, candleholders, a single vessel with flowers or foliage, all work well in the centre, either grouped together or spaced down the middle of a long table. Our gorgeous amber-coloured Pleated Christmas Trees make a wonderful addition to tables and work beautifully teamed with green foliage, pinecones and dried fruit.
The glow of flickering candlelight instantly feels inviting, so as well as your tabletop, dot candle votives and tealight holders around on any suitable flat surface surrounding your table to add to the magical effect. If candles are not your style, then our gorgeous super festive LED Winter Tree Lamp will certainly inject a seasonal glow to tabletops and sills - its beautiful milky glass finish lends itself to any interior setting. Cluster with other festive decorations for that ultimate Christmas feel.
Centre stage
The Marla Glass Candle Holders are incredibly versatile and work in the centre of a table as well as on mantels and side tables. Made from gorgeous, dimpled glass in olive green and light rose gold colourways, the candlelight flickers and bounces off the holder. You can mix and match colours and heights – the perfect partner to our Rustic Dining Candles.
Our beautiful, Handcrafted Flower Candlestick has a vintage vibe in a modern colourway and looks fresh and contemporary teamed with turquoise (and pink) accessories. The gilded metal Flora Candlestick is more traditional with its aged finish, delicately intertwined petals and foliage, and looks fantastic teamed with autumn and winter berry branches at the base. The elegant Farah Candle Holder is crafted from oxidized copper to create a naturally antiqued finish and looks wonderful teamed with a bold colour pop of a dining candle for contrast. The Filigree Candle Tray is a simple way to add impact to tables and has space for four dining candles.
Go for the glow
Be inventive with candles - mix scale, proportion and colour to create a focal point. Create a vignette with votives of different shapes and sizes - our Alia Star and Anta Glass Votives are perfect at this time of year. Play with reflection using mirrored or cut-glass votives and stick to odd numbers - a group of three always works well. If you are feeling creative, fill little terracotta plant pots with sand and pop one of our Rustic Dinner Candles into each, then decorate the base with dried moss and sprigs of rosemary.
Wreaths look wonderful at this time of year, but don’t stop at doors, they also look fantastic on chair backs or over mantels. As an alternative to foliage, our Rustic Maple Leaf Wreath is an intricate piece hand-crafted from iron, while our Forest Pine Wreath has gorgeous faux pine branches and cones with a dusting of frosted snow.
Foraged finds
This is a time of year when foraged branches and windfall foliage really come into their own. Fill vases throughout the home, and if your table is large enough, a faux flower and foliage display looks stunning in the middle. Our Massin Vase is a wonderful partner for frosted winter berries and eucalyptus. Faux Ruby Eucalyptus stems look fantastic teamed with wild, wispy Veronica and Olive Hydrangea. We also love the architectural interest Faux Catkin Branches add - the shapes and shadows look so pretty dancing in candlelight.
Finishing touches
Our Bronzed Filigree Garland adds instant glamour to tabletops running along the centre of a dining table teamed with pots of greenery, while antique champagne-coloured Floret Candle Votives look gorgeous positioned alongside. The garland can be shaped in whatever direction you need, so can circle candleholders, run the length of the table or wrap around vases. The Scandinavian Tree Lantern is a wonderful addition to patios, doorsteps, hallways and hearths. Made from iron in the shape of a Christmas tree, it is available in two sizes. Vintage Paper Snowflakes really do add a magical feel. Easy to hang on doors, walls and mantels, or suspend from a beam or ceiling using Command Hooks. Available in 3 different sizes, a mix of all three are the way to go if you want to create some real festive 'wow' factor!
Our Rosemary and Eucalyptus Reed Diffuser adds the perfect finishing touch. This fresh & herbal diffuser features notes of frankincense, rosemary & eucalyptus. Position atop a mantelpiece or console, and it will fill a room with a constant warmth and atmosphere for up to 10 weeks.
With the right approach, creating an inviting room and welcoming dining table using your own unique style, isn’t as hard as it looks. We hope you find some of our suggestions inspiring.
