July is upon us and with it comes sunshine and heat (although a little sporadic)! Visits to our local fruit farm become a fortnightly occurrence at this time of year, as is the obligatory stop off at their outdoor cafe before leaving with bountiful punnets of freshly picked fruit – the homemade Tayberry brownies are to die for!

Any opportunity to dine alfresco is a must in my book, and at this time of year there is no excuse – simple table decoration combined with simple food is the way to go, the more rustic the better!

We’re enjoying our new glassware from La Rochère that we introduced to the shop last month. These beautiful glass wine glasses and tumblers are not only lovely to look at, they are also very hard to break so perfect for entertaining in the garden.

Linen napkins and placemats wont blow away and have a wonderful tactile quality and relaxed style. Informal and practical, they’re perfect for a summer brunch – just add some slate platters with crusty homemade bread, a selection of cheeses, salamis, olives… nothing better I reckon! Check out our slate placemats and slate hearts – they’re perfect for the job. Add a La Rochère ‘Bee’ bowl filled with strawberries paired with fennel spiked meringues to finish… mouth wateringly delicious!

Votive’s dotted about always look beautiful. Fill with blooms by day – cut the stems so the flowers are just toppling over the top… gorgeous! As the sun goes down, light T-lights and lanterns… and let the party begin!
